Well that was over quickly wasn't it? From were I sit now looking out th e window at a cold, wet, January's day, 2017 and all it's ups and downs seems like a distant memory. But looking back I think it was a pretty awesome year really.
I recorded an album 'City of Streets', for the first time in a state of the art studio in Oslo, Norway. I released it independently. I took the album on tour for two months around Europe. I had it reviewed, I even had songs from the album played on the radio. And altho it was a great experience and a fantastic learning curve. It taught me a very important lesson... while you don't need a record company to make an album in 2017 you still need one to make sure it gets heard.
And that's not to say it's been a failure, far from it, self releasing an album has defiantly gained me more fans and opened up doors that were previously closed. But you still simply cannot beat being on a label for the amount of promotion and exposure it can give you. So as the saying goes... 'If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.'
And this probably is my main aim for 2018 and probably 2019 & 2020. Not to say that I will be a failure if I don't sign on the dotted line this year. Because another valuable lesson I have learned from last year is that the journey is as important as the destination.
But their have been some more minor new years resolutions this year, manly to keep up with vlogging as to give dry January a go. So far not a drop of alcohol has passed my lips in 2018, and to give you an insight into why I would do such a thing why not watch this weeks vlog to find out...
